Vinny & Ted are thrilled to announce that Simon Jones, the Ashes winning former Glamorgan and England fast bowler, will be visiting Chalfont St Peter for our latest Q&A Evening on Tuesday 20 May 2025, with a 7:45pm start.
As ever the evening will be hosted by V&T’s very own Laura Kuenssberg, Angus Fraser, who will talk to Simon about the highs and lows of his memorable career.
Jones was one of the leading figures during England’s unforgettable Ashes triumph in 2005, a series that is often regarded as the best Ashes series ever. In that series Simon’s ferocious fast bowling took 18 wickets at an average of 21 in the four Tests he played. In those wickets were two five-wicket hauls at Old Trafford and Trent Bridge.
Simon’s pace and skill suggested that a long and successful England career lay ahead of him, but this dream was sadly cut short when injury, the blight of all fast bowlers, struck again. Simon worked incredibly hard to get back in the England set up, and continued to play for Glamorgan, Worcestershire and Hampshire, but it wasn’t to be, and he finally retired from the game in 2013.
